How to use the caseload age calculator
- Copy two columns from your spreadsheet: student name and date of birth. You can also type the list, one student per line, like
Ava Thompson, 06/15/2018. - Paste them into the box. A header row such as “Name, DOB” is skipped automatically.
- Set the test date. It applies to everyone. To use a different date for one student, add it as a second date on their line.
- Press Calculate all. Then copy the table back into your spreadsheet, download it as a CSV file, or print it.
Accepted formats
- Dates: MM/DD/YYYY (US order), M/D/YY, or YYYY-MM-DD. So 03/04/2018 is read as March 4, 2018.
- Separators: commas, tabs (from Excel or Google Sheets), semicolons or spaces all work.
- Names: optional. Lines with only a date are numbered instead.
Lines that can’t be read are flagged in the results so you can fix them, and the rest of the list is still calculated.
Why calculate ages in bulk?
Annual reviews, screenings and progress reports often need ages for dozens of students on the same date. Doing them one at a time is slow and easy to get wrong. This tool uses the same calculation as our chronological age calculator, including the 30-day borrowing rule and rounding options many test manuals require.
Is it safe to paste student information?
Yes. The list is processed entirely by your browser. Names and dates are not uploaded, logged or saved, and they disappear when you close the page. If your district’s policy doesn’t allow names in online tools, paste initials or student numbers instead.
